Description: Kentucky St. Charles Dovetail - Here is a Great Kentucky Dovetail with a nick or two the keeps it from being a really high end piece.  At first I thought this was banded Hornstone, but it patinated and holds mineral deposits consistent with our Fort Payne Chert, so I will let you decide.  It has VERY nice flaking and has only a small ding on the point of the base that is not ancient, probably an implement ding.  Just look at the iron deposits on this piece.  The base is well ground, it has a great tip, and it is nicely beveled with fantastic flaking on the re-sharpening.  The symmetry is nearly perfect.  It has lots of color for a great display.  This Dove was found in Carroll County, Kentucky, by Charles Clark.  Ex- Tom Davis, Ex- Monty Pennington
