Item: FA627   *NEW*            TOM DAVIS COA
Description: WHAT a Dovetail - This Massive Dovetail was found on the Day Farm, off KY 627 near White Hall, Kentucky.  It has one of the Best Made St. Charles Bases that I have ever saw.  The base is well ground.  The base ends in two Deep, Well Made Side Notches.  (see photos).  From there you have Blade Edges that have only gone through a couple of re-sharpenings each and are lightly serrated.  The tip of this beauty may have even been snapped during manufacture.  The very tip is eat up with Iron Deposits.  There is only a "tiny" chigger bite to one side of the VERY tip that is not ancient.  This Big Dovetail is made out of What I believe to be Cain Ridge Chert from Fayette County, Ky.  This is an OUTSTANDING example of a Kentucky Dovetail with Fantastic Flaking over the entire Dovetail.   If not for the tip, this would be a VERY High End St. Charles Base Dovetail.  It was found by Shelby of the Burgin & Day Families and this collection remained intact until we obtained it.  All the pieces in this collection were found from 1930 through 1970 in the areas North and East of Richmond, Kentucky in Madison County.  Ex- Shelby Burgin, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington
