Description: Colorful KY Two-Tone Bottle Neck Benton -  Here is a Beautiful Bottle Neck Benton made of Caramel and Deep Gray Hornstone with very nice flaking.  It was found in Estill County, Kentucky. I purchased this piece from the finder on Nov., 10, 2004.  It has had 4 or 5 ancient re-sharpenings to the blade.  Basal area is lightly ground.  This nice blade has an ancient "burin" fracture to the tip which keeps it from being a really HIGH dollar piece! Description: MASSIVE Tennessee Benton - This Super Benton was found in Perry County, Tennessee in 1952.  It has great symmetry and form.  It is made from a beautifully patinated mottled and swirled piece of Dover Chert.  It has two old collectors notations on it, the number "918" and a sticker that reads, "Perry Co, Tenn 50".  (see extra photos)  It is thin and well made with very nice flaking.  This is a LARGE fine example and pieces like this are investment worthy!  Ex Monty Pennington

Description: Beautifully Flaked with a splash of white - This nice piece looks Greenbrierish in some ways but is most likely a Benton.  It has great flaking and is made from a piece of High Grade Hornstone with a splash of white on one side of the basal area.  It has a 1/2" long burin fracture to one side of the tip that has use wear over it. Description: HUGE Kentucky Benton - This Massive Benton was found in Harlan County, KY.  It is made of a high grade black Chert that we believe to be a High Grade Breathitt Chert.  It measures a massive 7 5/8 inches x 2 1/2 inches wide.  It has Great symmetry and form.  It has excellent flaking! It has an old collector sticker that reads " JONES R. 13-3 HARLAN Co., KY".  This Fine Artifact was issued a Certificate of Authenticity on 9/23/1990 by a committee of the G.I.R.S.  It also comes with Davis COA grading it a G10.  This is THE largest blade that I have seen out of this material!  This Fine piece would be a great addition to Any Benton Frame!  Ex- Monty Pennington

Description: OUTSTANDING BIG Benton -  This fine Benton Blade is made of a vey nice piece of a blotched chert out of the Fort Payne / Dover Chert layer that I like to call "Fort Dover Chert".  It was found by Ricky Johnson near Coffee Landing, Savannah, Tennessee in Hardin County, along the Tennessee River drainage.  It has excellent symmetry and flaking and is nice and thin for the size!  This fine Benton comes with a Tom Davis COA grading it a G-9.  Ex Melson, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington

Description: Kentucky Bottle Neck Benton - Here is an Extremely nice Kentucky Bottle Neck Benton.  It is made of Hornstone and exhibits the "cortex" on the very base.  This is a "classic" example of a Bottle Neck Benton from Kentucky.  It was found in Garrard County, Kentucky.  This fine Benton has Great Symmetry and is Well Flaked.  It is a beautiful piece of Hornstone in a nice BIG Benton that breaks 4 1/2 inches in size!   This piece is pictured in the NEW Overstreet # 11 on page # 360.   Ex- Rodney Tyree, Ex- Monty Pennington

Description:  Large Tennessee Benton - Here is a Large Tennessee Benton of un-identified, river stained chert.  I believe it is possibly Horse Creek Chert due to the banding and colors on one side.  It has great symmetry and nice flaking.  A Very nice LARGE example of a colorful Benton.  I have checked this closely and found it to be a good authentic piece.  Ex - Larry Lantz, Ex- Phil Mize

Description: Beautiful Serrated Archaic Stemmed - Here is a beautiful piece with fine serrations and a needle tip that is a bit problematic as far as typology.  It is beveled on all 4 sides and serrated along both edges.  The sides of the stem (or notches) are ground and the base has been lightly ground.  It has a short stem that expands right at the base.  I am not sure whether to call it a Benton, some odd Harpeth River, or short stemmed Little Bear Creek?  I lean more towards a Benton, but I will let you decide or suggest to me.  The piece was found in Russell County, Kentucky.  From our personal collection.

Description: KY Two-Tone Benton Form -  Here is a nice Benton blade with a "needle" tip.  It is made of two-tone Hornstone with the tip end being a nice gray and the basal area in the cortex of the nodule with one gray spot in it (see photos).  It is very nicely flaked and the sides of the base are well ground with the bottom ground lighter.  These two-tones pieces are highly collectible.

Description: Logan County, Ky Bottle Neck Benton - Here is a nice example of a KY Bottle Neck Benton.  It was found in Logan County, Kentucky.  It has some nice Oblique flaking on one side near the basal end of the blade.  It has an ancient "Burin" fracture from the tip extending back about 3/4 of an inch along one blade edge.  It is made of either a highly patinated hornstone or St. Louis Green.
