Description: VERY Colorful Smithsonia -  Here is a very colorful Smithsonia that was found in Savannah, Tennessee in Hardin County.  It is made of a colorful piece of chert that is mottled on one side.  It has a touch of the original cortex on the bottom of the base. (see photos).   It has a good symmetry and shape.  It has very fine edge work all up and down the blade edges. (see photos).  One barb is slightly higher than the other.  It has a couple of "chigger bites" on one blade edge and there is a small ding to one barb.  (see photos)  This Typology is hard to find.  Here is a good example.  This Piece is from the John Gibson Collection of Madison County, KY.  John has been an avid hunter and collector of Prehistoric Artifacts for many years.  He is a good friend and one of the founding members of the Appalachian Foothills Artifact Collectors Association.  Ex- Pete Smith Collection, Ex- John Gibson Collection, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington
