Description: Very Large Kentucky Hardstone Chisel - This Fantastic Chisel is made from Hardstone and was found in Fayette County, Kentucky.  This is one of the larger examples that you will see from Kentucky.  It has near perfect symmetry and shape.  The bit is well made and nicely polished.  (see photos).  The body still shows the "pecking" used to form the chisel and the Pole does not show much of the common abuse that you usually see in these.  The bit has a couple of very small "chigger bites" like you see in these that were used to work softer stone and wood.  From the collection of John Gibson.
