- Description: The
"Woods Dump" Loafstone / Banded Slate Loaf Stone - In 2005, Shiloh
Pointe development at the Northern end of Madison County, KY was
underway. John Evans Bobbitt was working as a surveyor for a
construction company. Oh Dec 22nd, 2005 at the back of Shiloh
Pointe, where what was to become Falcon Crest Drive drops over the hill,
John was working when he felt the sudden, urgent, "call of nature".
As he related it to me, he had stepped off the then gravel hill and
started into the woods when he saw a game trail. He followed it
maybe 20 yards into the wooded hillside looking for a place to "take
care of business" when he spied something frozen in the dirt of the
path. Whether before or after "business", I never asked, John
retrieved this nice artifact made from banded slate. A couple of
weeks later, I retraced his steps and found the imprint of the piece
still in the hard packed dirt trail. Because of this story, this
piece will forever be known as "The Woods Dump Piece". A good
friend finally granted me the privilege to bring this fine piece back to
Madison County.
