Description: Carter Cave Fluted Paleo Base - This Super Paleo Clovis was broken during manufacturing when the prehistoric knapper tried the 2nd flute which ducked through the piece.  This is an Outstanding example of a study piece as far as the flaking techniques used to set up the 2nd flute!  They were working with a high grade piece of Carter Cave Chert.  Reportedly from Kentucky.  Ex- M. Description: Very Nice Fluted Clovis with Burnin Fracture along base - This Fine Fluted Clovis was reported found in Middle Tennessee.  It has an Ancient "burin" fracture along one side of the base and the Clovis people USED it that way as the edges of the burin fracture show hafting polish from use.  It has great flaking and decent symmetry.  It is made from Hornstone.

Description: Fantastic Hazel Style Clovis -  This Super Hazel Style Clovis has a splash of white at the tip.  It is made of a patinated chert gray in color with brown stripes running through it.  It has near Perfect Symmetry!  It is fluted on both sides.  It has beautiful flaking and is very thin and well made!  The hafting area is nicely ground!  This is a beautiful piece that is a pleasure to hold!  This Clovis was reported to have been found in Middle Tennessee.

Description: Haney / Carter Cave Chert Fluted Clovis -  This has been a large Clovis, re-sharpened down.  The ground hafting area is 1 5/8 inches up the sides and the entire projectile is 2 5/8 inches.  It was found by J. Description: Very Nice Mottled Chert Hazel Style Clovis - This Fine Clovis has Very Nice Flaking and is thin and well made!  It is fluted on both sides.  It has very nice symmetry on the front 3/4 and has a base this is someone off in symmetry with one side of the Auriculate base being longer than the other.  It is nicely ground and is made of a highly patinated, mottled chert.  Possibly Fort Payne.  It was found in Middle Tennessee

Description: Beautiful Tennessee Clovis - This fine Clovis is made from Highly patinated Mottled Fort Dover Chert!  It has beautiful symmetry and is fluted on one side by a flute defined by two guide flutes!  On the other side the flute channel dipped giving it an almost uni-face feel!  IT has very nice symmetry and the hafting area is very well ground!  This Clovis would have been over a $3000 Clovis but from the implement ding to the tip. (see photos).  It is a super quality craftsmanship example that still displays Very well in any display!

Description: Beautiful Oolithic or Fossilifferous Fulted Clovis - This fine LARGE Clovis was found in Kentucky and is made of what I believe is Translucent Haney Chert.  It has beautiful symmetry and flaking.  It is fluted on both sides.  I suspect this one was found broken, but I cannot be certain.   It comes with a Partain COA noting the fact that it is glued.  Partain states "This example is Broken at the Hafting Area, and the two pieces have been glued back together.  This Clovis has very little evidence of attempted blade edge sharpening or use, possible being as made."  I concur with his evaluation.  This is a beautiful example of a 12,000 year old artifact of SIZE that is priced at a bargain!  Ex- Carson, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington

Description: Beautiful Coshocton Chert Ohio Clovis -  This fine Upper Mercer Clovis was found near the village of Tuscarawas also known as "Tusky", in Tuscarawas County, Ohio along the Tuscarawas River. It was from the W. Sims Collection.  It is made from a beautiful piece of Blue, Gray, and Cream Coshocton Chert.  Jerry graded this Clovis a G-7, but I would grade this Clovis at least an 8 and possibly higher.  It is well made and well flaked and has excellent symmetry.  The entire basal hafting area is well ground.  It is thin and fluted on both sides.  Comes with Both a Tom Davis COA & a Jerry Dickey COA.  Ex- S. Description: Saint Louis Style Fluted Clovis - Brown County, Ohio.  This Fine Clovis was found by a farmer on his own land in Brown County, Ohio.  It is very well made with LOTS OF COLOR and nice flaking.  It has a unique feature that along one side of the hafting area, it has a flat side.  (see photos).  This is not post manufacture damage, as hafting wear can plainly be seen along the edges and there is no patina change.  This indicates that this was part of the original flake that the piece was made from, or was put there during the manufacture process as this Clovis was used JUST AS YOU SEE IT.  May be Glacial Flint.  Ex- Paul Frey, Ex- K. Description: Super 81 year old Collection History on this Coshocton Clovis - This Clovis was Part of Display at the Vietzen Museum, Vietzen Collection, and is mounted to Vietzen's Hand Printed Provenance.  The card that it is mounted to reads, " The Ice Age Hunter used this point here at the edge of East Marsh.  Found on the Vietzen farm in 1931 by the Colonel while digging fish bait.  Paleo Indian roamed the area about 15,000 years ago.  Other Paleo points have been found in limited number.  You are now standing over the spot where it was found.  When the museum was enlarged it covered over 1000 feet.  To your right (East) was the marsh, now drained and farmed.  Rattlesnakes, Huckleberries and Cranberries, as well as many fur bearing animals existed here."  This piece has over 80 years of collection history!  Ex- Vietzen Collection, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington

(see photos)  It was found in Barren County, Kentucky.  It has excellent symmetry and form.  It is fluted on both sides.  The flute runs almost 1/2 of the length of this lancelot on one side and about 1/5 of the length on the other side. Description: Flint Ridge Un-fluted Clovis -  Here is a beautiful Paleo that hails from Hardin County, Ohio.  It is made from translucent Flint Ridge Flint.  It has VERY GOOD symmetry and a nice auriculate base.  The base is ground and the sides are ground up about 3/8ths of an inch.  It had a Perino Paper on it when we acquired it dated 2/25/1990 when Greg papered it for Leslie Pheiffer of San Antonio, Texas.  It was in the famous Bob Champion Collection and also in the Patterson Collection.  We sent it to Davis who papered it as an "un-fluted" Clovis, so it comes with  Two COA's.  A VERY FINE Paleo made of highly collectible translucent Flint Ridge.  Ex- Bob Champion Collection, Ex- Patterson Collection, Ex- Leslie S. Description: Beautiful Coshocton Chert Ohio Clovis -  This fine Upper Mercer Clovis was found near the village of Tuscarawas also known as "Tusky", in Tuscarawas County, Ohio along the Tuscarawas River. It was from the W. Sims Collection.  It is made from a beautiful piece of Blue, Gray, and Cream Coshocton Chert.  Jerry graded this Clovis a G-7, but I would grade this Clovis at least an 8 and possibly higher.  It is well made and well flaked and has excellent symmetry.  The entire basal hafting area is well ground.  It is thin and fluted on both sides.  Comes with Both a Tom Davis COA & a Jerry Dickey COA.  Ex- S. Description: Highly Patinated Fort Payne Chert Central Kentucky Clovis -  This Large Clovis was found two years ago washed out near the gate to a tobacco patch by Mike Isaacs, Jr. while tending his tobacco ( I know the family personally).  It has very well made flutes on both sides.  One flute goes nearly 1/2 the length of the blade.  The other flute goes approximately 1/4 the length of the opposite side (see photos).  It is well ground along the hafting area approx 1/3 of the length up from the base.  The basal area in entirely well ground.  There is one ancient place of damage on the hafting area of this large well made Clovis (see photos).  This is a Very Nice Well Made Large Clovis that was found within a 1/2 mile of I-75 between Richmond and Berea Kentucky.  Comes with Both a Tom Davis COA & a Jerry Dickey COA.  Ex- Mike Isaacs, Jr. (finder), Ex- S. Description: Kentucky Quartzite Clovis - This is a "beefy" clovis with a hefty cross section...... probably a lance point.   It was found in Feb. 2002 near Sharpsburg in Bath County, Kentucky by Joey Fairbanks.  It won "best field find" award at ASO show in 2003.  Tom Davis says it is made of Quartzite.  It is a molted gray in color with nice flutes.  It has a few ancient dings (see photos), but is a really nice example with great symmetry.  Comes with a Tom Davis COA.  From my personal collection.

Description: Carter Clovis Pre-form G-10 -  Tom Davis called this a Clovis Pre-form.  It DOES appear to have a well defined fluting platform on the base.  IT also has extended shoulders where a clovis would be ground for hafting which when ground, would be parallel to the blade edges.  I took plenty of good photographs so you can decide for yourself what you want to call it.  It has KILLER flaking and a very nice tip.  It is made of highly collectible Carter Cave Chert.  It was found on March 25th of 2006 by Joey Fairbanks in Bath County, Kentucky on an extended ridge off the Licking River basin.  It comes with a Tom Davis COA grading it a G-10.  From my personal collection.

Description: Kentucky Clovis - This fine clovis was found in Mason County, Kentucky in 1996.  It was the first Paleo find of Jerry Mains and was found off the Ohio River Basin.  It is pictured twice in Lar Hothem's "Indian Artifacts of the Midwest #5" on page 7.  It states there that it is made of two-tone amber Quartzite, but I think it is probably a very fine Chalcedony of some sort.  It is Highly Translucent!  From my personal collection.

Description: TN Knox County Chert Clovis -  Here is a nice clovis from Montgomery Co., TN.  It is made of well patinated and pitted Knox County Chert.  It is dark gray in color.  It has nice symmetry and short flutes on both sides (see photos).  It comes with a Tom Davis COA dated April 21, 2004.  Ex-Kevin Pipes, Ex- Rocky Hall, Ex- Monty Pennington

Description: Kentucky Fluted Fort Payne Clovis -  Here is a Central Kentucky Fort Payne Clovis with nicely defined flutes.  This is "classic" Fort Payne for this area.  It is well patinated, the sides of the hafting area are well ground.  This Clovis has a ding or two (see photos), but is still a very nice classic form for the type and displays well.  Ex- Gary Noel, Ex- Monty Pennington.

Description: KY Sonora Chert Clovis - glued - Here is a fine KY Sonora Clovis that was recovered broken and glued back together.  Here is an authentic KY Clovis with some size that would have been a High dollar Clovis because of the material that can be had for a bargain. Although it was broken it has been glued together and displays very well.

Description: Illinois Burlington Clovis - G-10 - Here is a VERY FINE clovis with well defined flutes on both sides.  It is made of Burlington Chert and is from Illinois.  This piece is ex-Tom Davis and was graded as a G-10.  (see other photos).  A very nice "investment" grade artifact.  Comes with a Tom Davis COA grading it a G-10!  Also comes with a Dwain Rogers COA.  Ex- Tom Davis...... from my collection.

Item: FP131  Highly Collectible Sonora Chert w/ 2 COA's
Description: Beautiful Sonora Kentucky Clovis - This fine Clovis, I purchased from a collection in the Southeastern mountain region of KY.  It is made of "highly collectible", Beautiful blue/gray Sonora Chert that is well pitted and patinated.  It has a nice tip, great flaking and has VERY nice flutes on both sides that end in step fractures.   It has one ancient place in the blade edge that dips in, which I think was created in re-sharpening (see photos).  (It has NO modern damage).  It comes with both a Tom Davis COA and a Jerry Dickey COA.  Tom graded it a G-8, but to me it is close to a 9.  From our personal collection

Description: Bath County Kentucky Fluted Clovis -  Found in Bath County, Kentucky by Joey Fairbanks.  It is broken across the base and has some tip damage.  (see photos).  I believe it is Carter Chert, highly patinated, because of the majority of other material from the site.  This partial Clovis has both flute terminals intact and exceptional flaking.  It is a GREAT study piece for anyone!  From the J. Fairbanks Collection, Ex- Monty Pennington.
