Item: FP591    *NEW*         Super Striped Quad - Davis COA     
Description: Super Buffalo River Chert Quad - This Great Quad was found on Wells Creek, near Cumberland City, in Stewart County, Tennessee.  It has near perfect symmetry and super flaking.  It has matching, squared off, flaring ears above a deep Auriculate Base.  The hafting area is well ground!  It is nice and thin.  Just a fine example of a Quad!  It is made of a nicely patinated Striped Chert that Davis called Buffalo River.  It has an old collectors notation (see photos) with the number "1047" Ex- M. Wasson, Ex- Monty Pennington

Description: Very Nice Dover Quad - This nice Quad was found along Wells Creek on the Rye Farm in Stewart County, Tennessee.  It has nice symmetry and great form.  It is thin and well made.  It has an old collectors notation describing find site and the number "2378"  (see photos)  It is made from a nice piece of highly patinated Dover Chert.  It comes with a Davis COA grading it a G9!  Ex- M. Description: Beautiful Hornstone Quad from Middle Tennessee - This Super Quad is Wide and Thin.  It was one most likely a very large example for the type based on the waist width, having been reduced in length through resharpenings.  It is made of what I think is High Quality Hornstone.  It has Very Nice Symmetry and flaking and the hafting area is nicely ground.  It comes with a COA from Jerry Dickey.  Jerry says "Blue Nodular or a high grade Ft. Payne chert.  Ex- Monty Pennington collection, Ex- C. Smith

Description: Large, Beautiful Quad from Harrison County, Kentucky - This Beautiful Quad was found in Harrison County, Kentucky in the 1980's by Vernon Russell.  It was purchased from the finder by Jim Atherton on Oct. 30th, 2018.  This is a large example for the type at 3 9/16 inches as most Quads seldom break 3 1/4 inches.  It has nice Parallel flaking and very nice symmetry and is quite thin!  The blade edges curve back in to the waist and then flare out into nice squared off ears above an Auriculate base.  It is made from Cain Ridge Chert which outcrops in a portion of Fayette County, Kentucky.  Coming out of our personal collection.  It comes with a Davis COA Grading it a G9 +.  Ex- Jim Atherton, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington

Description: Super Tennessee Quad  - This Quad is made from highly patinated and stained Chert that is striped.  It could be Fort Payne, but looks more like that local Chert to southwest TN.  It has very nice symmetry and is lightly serrated along both blade edges.  It is thin and very nicely flaked.  It has a series of small modern nick's in the edge of one bladed edge that are probably implement dings.  Found in Middle Tennessee.

Description: Fantastic Tennessee Quad will Killer Thinning Strikes - This FINE Quad is made from a nice piece of material that is most probably Jasper, but also may be highly patinated Fort Payne variety.  It was found in Stewart County, Tennessee.  It exhibits Super Flaking overall and is basally thinned with two strikes on both sides that terminate in prominent hinged fractures so that it is basically fluted.  It has a very nice Auriculate base and flaring ears that droop back nicely.  The ears are squared off typical of good Quads and the basal / hafting area is well ground.  I would personally grade it a G-10.  Ex- Marsh Collection, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington

Description: Fantastic Fort Payne Kentucky Quad - Here is a VERY Nice Quad that was found in McCreary County, Kentucky.  It was in the Chris Brock Collection.  We sent this Quad to Tom Davis and he graded it a G-7.  I think that it is a grade higher.  It has good symmetry and shape and very nice flaking.  The hafting area is well ground and ends in flaring ears and an auriculate base.  It is made of Highly Patinated Fort Payne Chert.   Ex- Chris Brock

Description: Fort Payne Kentucky Quad - Here is a big wide Quad from Kentucky.  It was found near the Montgomery County, Tennessee / Christian County, Kentucky line by Ronnie Daily.  I believe it is made of highly patinated Fort Payne Chert. It has an ancient burin fracture to the tip that make the tip appear rounded.  It has an ancient fire-pop to one side.  This is a BIG WIDE Quad form that displays well.  From our personal collection.

Description: Large Kentucky Paleo Quad -  This Large Paleo was found in Jefferson County, Kentucky by Jimmy Osborne in the late 1950's or early 1960's.  It is made of highly patinated Sonora Chert.  This Paleo is a hefty piece, wide at the base and was probably a very large Paleo being reduced by re-sharpenings because of long use.  It is a well made sturdy piece with excellent symmetry.  There is a touch of color on one ear.  This piece has been in a private collection for many years.  Ex- W. Description: Clear Quartz Beaver Lake or Quad - I believe this piece to be either a Beaver Lake or a Quad based on where it was found over a Dalton form.  Found in Far South Eastern Kentucky mountain region.  It is made of clear  Quartz and is HIGHLY TRANSLUCENT (see photos).  The basil area is ground including the sides.  VERY translucent! Description: BIG KY Sonora Chert Quad-  Here is a BIG BROAD Quad made of Highly Collectible Sonora Chert.  It is BIG drooping squared off Auricles and a DEEP Auriculate Base.  (see photos)  This Fine Quad is very nicely Flaked and has good symmetry.  It has a small ancient impact fracture to the tip that kept if from grading a G-10.  This is a Large example of the Type.  Comes with 3 COA's.  One from Dwayne Rogers, one from Bill Jackson, and one from Tom Davis Grading it a G-9 This piece is pictured in the NEW Overstreet # 11 on page # 495.   Ex- Brian Sauer Collection, Ex- Monty Pennington

Description: Kentucky Boyle Chert Quad - Here is a Quad with Exceptional ears.  It is nice and thin and made of colorful Boyle Chert.  There is an ancient ding on one side and the tip has a burin fracture.  One side back from the tip has been anciently made into a scraper of sorts.  (see Photos)  It was found by Joey Fairbanks on an extended ridge off the Licking River Basin in Bath County, Kentucky in 2005.  A nice form and a reasonable price.

Description: Kentucky Quad - G-8 - Here is a very nice Quad from Kentucky.  It is made of gray Hornstone with bluish blotches.  The base and sides are well ground.  I purchased this piece from Tom Davis and it was graded a G-8 and comes with the COA.  Don't let this nice Paleo get by you at a bargain.

Description: Fantastic Kentucky G-10 Quad - This Beautiful Quad, I purchased from a collection in the Southeastern mountain region of KY.  It is made of a well patinated local cobble chert.  It has a Fantastic tip and great flaking with a deep concave base and wide squared off Auricles.  The basal hafting area is nicely ground.  I had this piece papered for a provenance.  It comes with a Tom Davis COA, grading it a G-10.  From our personal collection.

Description:  Kentucky Harrodsburg Chert Quad (gray)- Found in Touristville area, near Mill Springs, Kentucky in Wayne County.  I am the 2nd person to own this piece besides the farmer who surface found it on his property.  Nice flaring ears on both sides & nicely ground basil area.  A true "investment" artifact.  Comes with a Tom Davis COA - G9, and a Bill Jackson COA.  A fabulous Paleo artifact with two certificates of authenticity.  This fine piece is pictured in Overstreet # 10, page 469.  Also Pictured in Overstreet # 11 in color plates on page 49.  Ex- Monty Pennington

Description:  Perry County TN Quad -  I bought this piece while in Hardin County, TN on a surface hunting trip.  It was found my Michael Haines in Perry County, TN.  I am not sure of the Chert, but is indigenous to that area .... pink and tan in patinated color. It has had, in my opinion, an ancient impact fracture to side back from the tip.  Some ancient then worked this area into more of a scraper.  It has nice flaring, squared off ears, and a well ground base & sides.  It is a nice authentic Quad at a reasonable price.  Ex- Michael Haines, Ex- Monty Pennington
