- Description: Outstanding Kentucky Agate Basin -
This Outstanding example of a Paleo Agate Basin was found in Bourbon County, Kentucky.
It has nearly perfect symmetry and form. The edges
of the hafting area below the shoulders and around the base are
nicely ground. This fine Agate Basin has exceptional
flaking. This is a very fine Lanceolate Blade from the
Paleo Period. It comes with a Tom Davis COA grading it a
G10. Was published in an old Tom Davis Catalogue as a

Here is a nice Agate Basin that is made of Fort Payne Chert. It is thin and well made and well flaked. It has light grinding on the hafting area. All the pieces from this collection were found in McCreary County, Kentucky either off Peel Dog Wood Road, in Forgotten Valley, Indian Creek, or Bear Wallow. - Description: Big, Beautiful, 5+ Inch Agate Basin - This HUGE Agate Basin is something to behold. It has perfect symmetry, a fine tip, nice flaking, and a great base. It was found by Robert L. Stathem near Seminole, Texas in the 1980's. This piece is from the collection of John & Robert Stathem of Shreveport, Louisiana. Robert and his father John hunted artifacts in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. - Description: Super Fort Payne Agate Basin - This BIG Agate Basin is made of highly patinated piece of nicely mottled Fort Payne Chert. It was found in McCreary County, KY. It has Very Nice Flaking and symmetry. The hafting area is lightly ground. All the pieces from this collection were found in McCreary County, Kentucky either off Peel Dog Wood Road, in Forgotten Valley, Indian Creek, or Bear Wallow. All of these are within 5 miles of the Cumberland River. We sent this Big Agate Basin to Tom Davis COA grading it a G10. Ex- Monty R. Pennington

- Description: Fantastic Burlington Agate Basin- Here is an Extremely nice Agate Basin from Missouri. It is made of high grade Burlington Chert showing lots of good mineral deposits. This Agate Basin exhibits nearly PERFECT symmetry. It has outstanding percussion and pressure flaking on both blade faces (see photos). The well defined hafting area is highly ground. This is a GREAT example of a highly collectible artifact type. It was once in the Glascock collection. This Agate Basin was papered by Roy Motley for Brian Wrage of Atlanta, IL on 10/08/05 and comes with the Motley Paper. I also had it papered by Tom Davis, so you get 2 COA's. Description: KY Sonora Chert Agate Basin - Here is a very colorful Agate Basin made of what I believe is a variety of Sonora Chert, blue/gray to Maroon in color. It has a small "fire pop" on one side. (see photos). The fire pop removed a little of the grinding on one side. It has a old collectors # 302 on one side. Ex- Bill Pinkston, Ex- Monty Pennington

- Description: Wolfe Co., Kentucky Agate Basin G-8 - Here is a large Agate Basin made of stripped Carter Cave Chert. It is a slightly different variety of Carter and has some fossils. It is a slightly translucent piece (see photos). It is moderately ground a little over an inch up on both sides of the base and around the base. It was found in Wolfe County, KY. Comes with a Tom Davis COA dated May 31, 2004 grading it a G-8. This is a nice LARGE Paleo piece that displays very well. Ex- Tom Davis, Ex- S. Denny
